Where production time goes
Engraving the mold takes one to three days. Striking, cutting and plating take a few more. Enamel filling and baking are done by hand, color by color, and take the longest. Hard enamel adds polishing. Our guide how to make enamel pins explains each step.
What slows orders down
- Proof back-and-forth. Every day the proof waits is a day added to delivery.
- Unusual options. Many cut-outs and custom boxes add days.
- Very large orders. Above about 3,000 pieces, production can take a few extra days.
- Holidays. Factories in China close for about two weeks around Lunar New Year (starting February 6 in 2027) and for several days in early October. Carriers slow down from mid-November to the end of December.
Plan backwards from your date
- Write down the date you need pins in hand.
- Subtract 30 business days for standard delivery (10 for rush, 5 for express) plus two days of margin.
- Subtract a few days for the proof and your approval.
- That is the date your proof must be approved. Request your quote a few days before it.
For events in spring (trading pins, graduations, Nurses Week, teacher appreciation), approve by mid-March, and earlier if your design uses special options.
Need it faster?
Rush and express orders arrive within 10 business days (15% extra) or 5 business days (25% extra). Tell us your date on the quote form and we will confirm whether it can be met before you pay. Shipping details are on shipping and delivery.
Typical schedules for common projects
| Project | Approve the proof by |
|---|---|
| Summer baseball and softball tournaments (June to July) | early April to early May |
| Spring graduations (May to June) | mid-March to early April |
| Nurses Week (May 6–12) | late March |
| Teacher Appreciation Week (first week of May) | late March |
| October awareness months | mid-August |
| Veterans Day (November 11) | late September |
| Holiday gifts (December) | early October |
These dates include a buffer for proof revisions and shipping. Orders with special options should approve a week earlier.
How to keep your order on schedule
- Send the clearest artwork you have and list all the text you want on the pin.
- Name one person to approve the proof, so revisions do not wait on a committee.
- Answer proof questions the same day.
- Pay promptly; production starts once payment is received.
- Give a delivery address where someone can sign for the package.
Reorders are faster
A reorder of an approved design skips the proof and the mold, so it can enter production immediately. Reorders use the same standard, rush and express delivery options.
