How printed pins for photos and gradients are built

The difference between pin styles is in how the metal and the color meet. This illustration shows the profile of the style on this page.

    Soft vs hard enamel

Keep the parts that make the image recognizable

A photograph or detailed illustration can lose its character when divided into separate enamel areas. Printing keeps the image as an image, so the first decision is the file quality, crop and pin outline. Send the original file rather than a small social-media thumbnail whenever possible.

Identify any text that must stay readable. A line that looks clear on a screen can become too small on a compact pin. The proof lets you review the crop, lettering and longest edge together.

    Compare printing with filled enamel

    Artwork Option to compare
Photo or smooth gradient Full-color printing
Flat colors with bold metal outlines Soft or hard enamel
Small detail on an enamel base A screen-printed detail
    Metal-only crest Die struck relief

An epoxy dome is part of the listed printed-pin approach. It changes the feel of the face from a recessed enamel surface. If you need another surface treatment, include that requirement in the request.

    Write the image specification

Include the image file, desired outline, size, quantity, back and packaging. For a memorial group order, make the photo crop and exact name or date part of the approved artwork. For brand art, include the reference that controls the colors.

The standard starting quantity is 50 per design. Smaller simple printed projects up to 1.25 inches are reviewed under the low-minimum conditions; that exception should be quoted against the actual file and configuration.

Quote the selected finish and size

Use the order box and pricing page to compare the listed base choices. Packaging, back changes and other extras belong in the specification. Add the date needed and destination so the delivery arrangement can be checked before approval.
