How glow enamel looks
In daylight, glow enamel looks like a pale version of its color: pale green, pale blue or off-white. After a few minutes under bright light, it glows for several minutes in the dark, brightest at first and fading gradually. Green glows longest and brightest; blue and aqua are close behind; other colors glow more faintly.
Designing for glow
- Use glow on one or two areas, not the whole pin, so the shape reads in the dark.
- Pale daytime colors are part of the look; place glow where a light color makes sense.
- Glow works best on soft enamel.
- A darker finish such as antique silver makes the glow look stronger.
Price
Glow enamel adds $0.30 per pin for each glow color. Base pin prices are on the pricing page; for example, 100 soft enamel pins at 1.25 inches cost $3.55 each.

Is glow enamel safe?
Modern glow pigment is strontium aluminate, which is non-radioactive. If your pins are for young children, ask for our material test reports when you request a quote on the quote form.

How long do glow in the dark pins glow?
The glow is brightest for the first few minutes after charging and fades gradually over about 30 minutes.
What color glows brightest?
Green, followed by aqua and blue. Other colors glow more faintly.
Does the glow wear out?
No. The pigment recharges every time it is exposed to light.
Can glow be combined with glitter?
Yes, in different areas of the same pin.
