Trading pin sizes
Size is the biggest decision in a trading pin order: it sets the price, the amount of detail and how much the pin stands out on a crowded towel. Here is how the common sizes compare.

Common trading pin sizes
| Size | Good for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 in. | Younger teams, local events, tight budgets | Fits simple designs; keep text short |
| 1.75 in. | Softball, hockey, cheer | Enough room for one add-on |
| 2 in. | The most popular size for baseball and softball | Room for glitter and a bold outline |
| 2.5 in. | Teams that want to stand out | Room for detailed mascots and two effects |
| 3 in. | Showpiece pins | Heavier and pricier; check tournament rules |
Size is measured on the longest side. A 2-inch pin can be 2 inches tall and narrower, which keeps the cost down.

Tips
- Bigger is not always better; a clever 2-inch pin trades better than a plain 3-inch one.
- Pins over 1.5 inches get two posts so they hang straight.
- Effects need room: plan at least 1.75 inches for glitter plus a cut-out window.
