Artwork rights policy

We make pins from artwork you own or have permission to use. This page explains what that means in practice, so there are no surprises after you send your design.

What we can make

  • Your own organization's name, logo and colors
  • Original artwork you created or commissioned
  • Designs you have a written license for (please attach it to your quote)
  • Public domain material such as national and US state flags
  • Our ready-made designs, customized with your text or logo

What we will not make without written permission

  • Logos, mascots or names of professional, college or school sports teams other than your own
  • Cartoon, film, TV, game or anime characters
  • Brand logos that are not yours
  • Official insignia of military branches, police agencies or government seals
  • Marks of membership organizations such as scouting groups or Greek letter organizations' registered crests

We also cannot make pins with:

  • University or college names, seals and logos without written approval from the school's trademark licensing office, even for internal department orders.
  • Professional sports team names and logos (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and others), including youth teams named after a professional team.
  • US military branch seals and emblems without a license from that branch's trademark licensing program.
  • The Olympic rings and Olympic terms, the Red Cross emblem, and remembrance poppies associated with the Royal British Legion or the Royal Canadian Legion.

For your own team, school or chapter, we can usually help you design something original that captures the same spirit without copying a registered mark.

Why we are strict about this

Pins with copied artwork can be seized at customs and can expose you, not just us, to legal claims. Refusing these orders protects our customers and lets us keep prices low for everyone else.

If you believe a pin infringes your rights
