What it means
Alphabet blocks stand for the first things children learn at school, and kindergarten is where reading begins for most of them. Many schools call the day a moving-up or promotion ceremony; the pin turns it into a milestone a child can wear.

What back is safest for five-year-olds?
Rubber clutches are the standard choice. Parents can also keep the pin in a velvet pouch as a keepsake rather than pinning it on.
Can it say Pre-K instead?
