What it means
White, pearl or clear is the color of lung cancer awareness. Because a white ribbon would vanish on a white pin, this design reverses the usual layout and sets it on navy, which also gives the pin a serious, modern look.

Why is the background navy?
So the white ribbon shows. We can use any dark color for the field, including your brand color.
