Diabetes Awareness Ribbon Pin
The design
On the pin
A round pin with a silver-tone rim and white field. Instead of a ribbon, a bold blue circle outlined in silver tone fills the center, DIABETES AWARENESS arcs over the top in blue, and your organization's name follows the bottom.
What it means
The blue circle is the global symbol for diabetes. The International Diabetes Federation introduced it in 2006, when the United Nations recognized World Diabetes Day; the circle stands for unity and the blue for the sky that unites all nations, and the color of the UN flag.
Colors and finish
A single strong blue on white reads clearly at any size. In hard enamel the circle looks almost like a jewel; in soft enamel the raised metal ring gives it depth.

When to order
November is American Diabetes Month, and World Diabetes Day is November 14, the birthday of Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in 1921.
Who orders it
Diabetes education programs, endocrinology practices, pharmacies, school nurses and walk teams. Our awareness ribbon colors guide explains when a symbol replaces the ribbon.

More awareness ribbon pins
Can we have a ribbon instead of the circle?
Yes. Gray and blue ribbons are also used for diabetes. The circle is the international symbol, so we recommend it unless your group already uses a ribbon.
Can we make a type 1 version for children?
Yes. Children's groups often add a small hero or star; we keep the circle so the cause stays clear.
Can I change the wording on the pin?
Yes. Replace the top or bottom text with your organization, campaign or event name.
How many awareness pins should we order?
One per participant or staff member plus 20%. Prices drop at 300, 500 and 1,000 pieces.
How big is a 1-inch pin?
Slightly larger than a US quarter. It is the most common lapel size for service awards. Your proof shows the pin at actual size.
